In Psalm 20, David is praying for others in verses 1-5.  Look at the power of his prayers!  He asks God to answer, send help, remember their good deeds, give them the desires of their heart, make all their plans succeed and grant ALL their requests.  Now, that is a big prayer.  Do I pray for big things like that?  Or do I try and limit my prayers so that I am not asking too much of the Lord?

I think I often limit my prayers because I don’t think God will really want to do everything that I ask.  And in a sense, He probably won’t because He knows best.  But in other sense, He desires to give us the desire of our hearts and to answer our prayers.  I think the reason that David is able to be so bold in praying is because he believes these things about God.  He believes that God “saves his anointed” and “answers him from his holy heaven” (vs. 6).

Vs. 7 – “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

David believes that God can do great things, knows that God wants to great things, trusts God to do great things and thus, he ASKS God to do great things.  Let us follow his example.
